## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

?	THURSDAY 12/03/20 AT WAKEMED IN RALEIGH, NC DURING THE 1630 SCHEDULED FLIGHT THE AIRCRAFT (MATTERNET M2 UAS SERIAL NUMBER M2-0057) FAILED TO LINE UP DIRECTLY OVER ITS LANDING PAD. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET OFF.

?	THE AIRCRAFT HAD AN EMPTY PAYLOAD LEG FROM E-TOWER TO RALEIGH MEDICAL PARK TO PICK UP SAMPLES.

?	AIRCRAFT ATTEMPTED ITS 3 PRECISION LANDING ATTEMPTS BEFORE PROCEEDING TO THE ALTERNATE LANDING LOCATION.

?	ALL 3 PL ATTEMPTS WERE DISPLACED FROM THE ?NORMAL? GPS LOCATION.

?	THE ALTERNATE LANDING ATTEMPT WAS ALSO DISPLACED, AND OVER A FENCED-IN DUMPSTER AREA.

?	THE AIRCRAFT WAS HELD AT THIS LOCATION UNTIL THE BATTERY DEPLETED TO THE POINT THAT IT BEGAN A SLOW DESCENT.

?	DURING THIS DESCENT AN ARM OF THE UAS IMPACTED THE TOP OF THE METAL FENCE SURROUNDING THE DUMPSTER AREA CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER AND LAND INVERTED INSIDE THE DUMPSTER AREA.

?	UPSFF FOLLOWED ITS EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROTOCOLS TO INCLUDE NOTIFICATION OF THE POI.

?	UPSFF SUSPENDED OPERATIONS AT WAKEMED IN RALEIGH PENDING A ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS OF THIS EVENT.

?	THE ONLY DAMAGE WAS TO THE AIRCRAFT ITSELF.

?	THE METAL FENCE SUSTAINED SOME VERY MINOR SCRATCHES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
