## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS PERFORMING TOUCH-AND-GOES ON HIS HOME STRIP. AFTER ADVANCING THE THROTTLE, THE ENGINE SPOOLED UP, THEN DROPPED TO IDLE. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT IN TIME TO AVOID LEAVING THE RUNWAY SURFACE. AFTER LEAVING THE RUNWAY, THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN21LA078](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN21LA078), Dec 7, 2020: Vans RV4 (N423WH), Sadler, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The partial loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined based on the available evidence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
