## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DECEMBER 17, 2020 PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ PICKED UP N231NK A 1979 MOONEY MK-20K FROM ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AT BARWICK LAFAYETTE AIRPORT (9A5) TO RELOCATE BACK TO ITS HOME BASE IN DALLAS BAY, TN. (1A0). 7 MINUTES INTO THE FLIGHT AND APPROX. 3000FT, THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ MADE A 180 DEGREE TURN AND TRIED TO MAKE IT BACK TO BARWICK LAFAYETTE. AT APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES OUT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ REALIZED HE WOULD NOT MAKE IT BACK. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ IDENTIFIED THE BEST FIELD TO LAND AND HEADED TOWARD IT. THE LANDING GEAR WAS NOT SELECTED DOWN AND THE AIRCRAFT SLID APPROXIMATELY 600FT IN THE FIELD. NO PERSONS OR PROPERTY WERE DAMAGED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
