## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING A COMMERCIAL CERTIFICATE INSTRUCTION FLIGHT UNDER A PART 141 CURRICULUM AND CLUB AIRCRAFT, A LANDING WAS ATTEMPTED ON A SNOW COVERED RUNWAY. THE TRICYCLE GEAR AIRPLANE HAD SMALL TIRES AND NO SKIS. THE DEPTH OF THE SNOW SLOWED THE AIRCRAFT RAPIDLY INDUCING A CARTWHEEL AND THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED ON ITS TIRES. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC21LA010](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC21LA010), Dec 31, 2020: Cessna 172R (N949AF), Hope, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s selection of unsuitable terrain for landing. A factor was the certified flight instructor’s selection of unsuitable terrain for landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
