## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC WAS COMPLETING A THIRD LANDING ON A SHORT APPROACH. THE PIC SELECTED THE LANDING GEAR HANDLE TO LOWER/EXTEND AND DID NOT VERIFY THE GEAR WAS IN THE FULLY DOWN AND LOCKED DETENT ON THE HANDLE MECHANISM. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT LANDED, THE WEIGHT CAUSED THE SINGLE MONOWHEEL LANDING GEAR TO RETRACT IN THE FUSELAGE. THE MONO GEAR DID NOT RETRACT FULLY, PREVENTING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE. THE PROPELLER DID STRIKE THE GROUND, HOWEVER THE CLUTCH ASSY PREVENTED ANY DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. A FAIRING/SHROUD AROUND THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY WAS DAMAGE, ALONG WITH MINOR PANELING AROUND WHEEL WELL. TWO BRAKE LINES ON THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY ALSO SHEARED OFF. THE AIRCRAFT NEEDED TO BE LIFTED BY CRANE, TO EXTEND AND LOCK THE LANDING GEAR. AIRCRAFT WAS TOWED OFF OF RUNWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
