ON MARCH 4, 2021 AT APPROXIMATELY 1510 LOCAL TIME, AIRCRAFT N67013, A BEECH C23, TOOK OFF FROM KRENS FARM AIRPORT (14VA), A PRIVATE GRASS RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED IN A WOODED AREA APPROXIMATELY 400 FEET FROM THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY. AT THAT TIME THE VIRGINIA STATE POLICE AND THE FAA WERE NOTIFIED.

THE LEFT WING WAS SEPARATED FROM THE FUSELAGE LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET FROM THE MAIN WRECKAGE. THE RIGHT WING WAS LOCATED WITHIN THE MAIN WRECKAGE WITH THE FUSELAGE. THE VERTICAL STABILIZER AND THE RUDDER WERE FOUND SEPARATED INTO TWO PIECES APPROXIMATELY 15 FEET NORTH OF THE FUSELAGE. SEVERAL SMALL PIECES OF WRECKAGE WERE FOUND IN A SMALL DEBRIS FIELD AROUND THE MAIN WRECKAGE.

THE ACCIDENT PILOT WAS THE HOLDER OF AN AIRMAN CERTIFICATE WITH AIRPLANE SINGLE ENGINE LAND, AIRPLANE MULTI ENGINE LAND, AND INSTRUMENT AIRPLANE RATINGS. THE ACCIDENT PILOT?S THIRD CLASS MEDICAL CERTIFICATE WAS CURRENT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21FA148](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21FA148), Mar 4, 2021: Beech C23 (N67013), Purcellville, VA, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's improper decision to depart from the short turf runway with a tailwind.

## Other reports on N67013 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19920221005959I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920221005959I), Feb 21, 1992: Beech C23 (N67013), Easton, MD, Minor damage. Student on third solo flight lost directional control on a touch and go takeoff. Veered off runway into a ditch.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
