THE STUDENT PILOT LANDED IN A QUARTERING TAILWIND AND WAS NOT LINED UP WITH THE RUNWAY WHEN TOUCHING DOWN. THIS RESULTED IN THE AIRCRAFT SKIDDING SIDEWAYS INTO RUNWAY EDGELIGHTS, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE LEFT FLAP, LOWER ENGINE COWL AND UNDERCARRIAGE FAIRINGS.  NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED.
