## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT TOOK OFF FROM MYL FOR A LOCAL SCENIC FLIGHT AT 1500 LOCAL TIME. UPON RETURNING HE SET UP ON A 25 MILE FINAL FOR LANDING RUNWAY 34 MYL. WINDS WERE 270 DEGREES AT 12 KNOTS. ON SHORT FINAL THE WINDS SEEMED STRONGER THAN REPORTED. THE PILOT HAD THE LEFT WING LOW WITH RIGHT RUDDER TO STAY ON RUNWAY CENTER. UPON TOUCHDOWN THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO SWING TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT APPLIED RIGHT RUDDER AND THEN RIGHT BRAKE. THE LEFT TURN CONTINUED AND THE AIRCRAFT GROUND-LOOPED, THE RIGHT GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP RESTING ON ITS NOSE AND RIGHT WING TIP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR21LA128](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR21LA128), Mar 11, 2021: Aviat A-1C-180 (N18AH), McCall, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of directional control while landing in a crosswind, which resulted in a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
