## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS PARKED IN A NON MOVEMENT AREA APPROXIAMETELY 125 FEET FROM T-HANGARS. OWNER'S INTENTION WAS TO REPOSTION, VIA GROUND TAXI, TO HIS NEWLY RENTED HANGAR SPACE, WITH NO INTENT TO FLY. OWNER WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE AIRPLANE (ZERO HOURS IN MAKE AND MODEL) OWNER STARTED THE ENGINE WITHOUT THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. THE AIRPLANE IMMEDIATELY STARTED MOVING FORWARD AFTER ENGINE START AND OWNER WAS UNFAMLIAIR WITH BRAKE OPERATION AND WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE FORWARD TRAVEL OF THE AIRPLANE. THE AIRPLANE CONTINUED FORWARD, STRIKING A CLOSED T-HANGAR DOOR CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND THE T-HANGAR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
