## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE STUDENT PILOT WAS CONDUCTING HIS FIRST UNSUPERVISED SOLO FLIGHT (FOURTH SOLO OVERALL) IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN. THE STUDENT HAD JUST TOUCHED DOWN ON THE SECOND LANDING OF THE FLIGHT. HE APPLIED FULL POWER TO CONDUCT A TOUCH AND GO. AFTER APPLYING POWER, HE REACHED DOWN TO HIS RIGHT TO RETRACT THE FLAPS AND THE SHOULDER BELT SLIPPED OFF HIS LEFT SHOULDER, IMPAIRING HIS ABILITY TO CONTROL THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT CLOSED THE THROTTLE AND ABORTED THE TAKEOFF, BUT LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP IN THE GRASS. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT CONTACT ANY AIRPORT SIGNAGE OR LIGHTING. NO DAMAGE, NO INJURIES. INSPECTED SEATBELT OPERATION, ALL FUNCTIONS NORMAL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
