## Narrative

EON MESSAGE TEXT: CHARLESTON, SC (JZI): N5891J, BE35, LANDED ON RUNWAY 9 WITH THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED. POB: 1, INJURIES: NONE, DAMAGE: EXTENT UNKNOWN. 03/25/2021 1850Z

PILOT STATEMENT: ON 25 MARCH 2021, I MADE A GEAR UP LANDING IN MY OWNED AIRCRAFT, N5891J, A 1965 BEECHCRAFT DEBONAIR, AT KJZI (CHARLESTON EXECUTIVE AIRPORT) AFTER TWO HOURS OF FLIGHT INSTRUCTION WITH MY CFI. I WAS FLYING SOLO AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.

I DID NOT PUT DOWN THE GEAR, ALTHOUGH I THOUGHT I HAD DONE SO. I CROSSED THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD AT ABOUT 75 KNOTS, HELD THE NOSE IN THE LANDING CONFIGURATION AND SETTLED INTO THE RUNWAY. INSTEAD OF HEARING "CHIRP" FROM THE RUBBER TIRES, I HEARD NOTHING UNTIL I HEARD SHEET METAL SCRAPING AND THE PROPELLER HITTING THE CONCRETE. I MAINTAINED CENTERLINE WITHOUT ANY FORWARD G-FORCE AND CAME TO A STOP. I IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF THE FUEL VALVE AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF SHOCK, I OPENED THE DOOR, STEPPED ONTO THE WING AND RIGHT TO THE GROUND. I DID NOT BELIEVE WHAT I HAD JUST DONE IN LANDING WITH THE GEAR UP. BUT I DID. I SUSTAINED NO INJURY AT ALL, ONLY DAMAGE TO N5891J.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
