## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS FLYING FROM TWIN LAKES TO BARNWELL TO GET FUEL. SAID HE CHECKED THE FUEL GAUGE ON

THE ONBOARD COMPUTER, WHICH SAID HE HAD 2.5 HOURS OF FUEL. SAID HE HAS TESTED THE ONBOARD

THE TANKS AND ?SAW FUEL SLOSHING IN THE TANK.? AS HE WAS CLIMBING THROUGH APPROX. 4,500 FT,

THE ENGINE STARTED SPUTTERING. HE REDUCED POWER, BUT NO CHANGE. HE THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE

FUEL STARVATION, SO STARTED LOOKING FOR A SUITABLE FIELD. WHEN HE KNEW HE COULDN?T MAKE IT TO

AN AIRPORT, HE MADE THE DECISION TO LAND ON WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS A FARM FIELD (ACTUALLY A GUN

RANGE). ON 03-30-21 THIS INSPECTOR VISUALLY CHECKED FUEL FILLER OF AIRCRAFT WHICH WAS DRY WITH ONLY THE SMELL OF AVGAS PRESENT
