## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER REVISING HIS STATEMENT SEVERAL TIMES, THE RIGHT SEATED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR STATED THAT 12 DEGREES OF FLAPS WERE SELECTED FOR A

SHORT/SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF. DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL, ALL POWER INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL WITH GOOD ACCELERATION. WITH SLIGHT BACK PRESSURE ON THE YOKE, THE AIRCRAFT LIFTED OFF AND CLIMBED BRIEFLY BUT ONCE OUT OF GROUND EFFECT, BEGAN TO SETTLE DESPITE THE FULL POWER APPLICATION. AFTER SEVERAL MOMENTS, THE FLAPS WERE RETRACTED AND THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED AND DEPARTED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT INTO THE SOFT DIRT. THE POWER WAS REDUCED AND THE AIRPLANE CAME TO REST ABOUT 100 YARDS FROM THE RUNWAY AFTER THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
