## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATEMENT

I DEPARTED F45 AFTER MY ROUTINE PREFLIGHT AND A NORMAL RUNUP. AFTER INITIAL CLIMB, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER, AND I GOT AN INDICATION OF HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE. I MADE A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING ON A DESERTED DIRT ROAD. UPON LANDING, THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR DOORS. AFTER LEAVING THE COCKPIT, I NOTICED THE ENGINE COWLING OPEN, WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED THE HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE AND POWER LOSS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
