## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 4/28/2021 AT APPROXIMATELY 2020 GMT A PA-28-180, N32592, LANDED SHORT OF RUNWAY 24 AT POTOMAC AIRFIELD IN FORT WASHINGTON MARYLAND. THE AIRCRAFTS LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR STRUCK THE ASPHALT WHERE IT MEETS THE GRASS AT THE FRONT OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT REGAINED LIFT FOR A SHORT DISTANCE AND UPON TOUCHING BACK DOWN, THE LEFT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED. THE AIRCRAFT THEN PROCEEDED TO VEER OFF THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT APPROXIMATELY 60 FEET WHERE IT CAME TO REST. THE PILOT AND 2 PASSENGERS EVACUATED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21LA210](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21LA210), Apr 28, 2021: Piper PA-28-180 (N32592), Friendly, MD, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to attain a proper touchdown point on landing, which resulted in a collision with the runway lip.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
