## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT LANDED LONG ON FIRST ATTEMPT, PILOT ELECTED TO DO A GO AROUND.

ON SECOND ATTEMPT AIRCRAFT LANDED LONG AGAIN ON SAME RUNWAY, AND WENT OFF THE END EVENTUALLY TRAVELLING DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND STRIKING A FENCE, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21LA205](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21LA205), Apr 30, 2021: Piper PA-28-161 (N2136M), Columbia, KY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to obtain a proper touchdown point on the runway, which resulted in a runway excursion.

## Other reports on N2136M (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19880520031769I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19880520031769I), May 20, 1988: Piper PA28161 (N2136M), Allentown, PA. VFR pilot caught on top was assisted by ATC to descend below clouds for a safe landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
