## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER FLYING FROM KSGS TO KEAU, DURING A LANDING ATTEMPT THE AIRCRAFT BALLOONED AND CAME DOWN HARD ON THE LANDING GEAR. THE HARD LANDING CAUSED THE NOSE GEAR STRUT TO SNAP OFF AND THE PROPELLER TO STRIKE THE RUNWAY CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER. THE AIRCRAFT SKIDDED OFF THE RUNWAY AND CAME TO REST IN THE GRASS AT THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY. DAMAGE WAS ALSO NOTED TO THE RIGHT WING TIP FUEL TANK DUE TO CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY AND THE LEADING EDGE OF THE RIGHT WING DUE TO HITTING A RUNWAY MARKER LIGHT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT AND VFR CONDITIONS PREVAILED THROUGHOUT THE FLIGHT. THE STUDENT PILOT IN COMMAND WAS ON HIS FIRST SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
