## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 05, 2021 AT 14:40 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME (EDT), A 1965 BEECH A23 AIRCRAFT, N3549R, REGISTERED TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, OPERATED BY A PRIVATE PILOT FOR A PERSONAL FLIGHT RECIEVED MINOR DAMAGE WHEN ITS RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR SEPERATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT AFTER LANDING ON RUNWAY 27 IN KALAMAZOO/BATTLE CREEK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (AZO) IN KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN.

VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND GUSTY WINDS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE PRIVATE FLIGHT WAS BEING CONDUCTED UNDER THE PROVISONS OF TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS (CFR) PART 91 WITHOUT A FLIGHT PLAN. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. THE FLIGHT ORGINATED FROM ANDERSON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (AID), ANDERSON, IN AT APPROXIMATELY 12:57 EDT.

ACCORDING TO THE PILOT HE WAS GIVEN CLEARANCE FROM THE TOWER TO LAND ON RUNWAY 35. AT THE TIME RUNWAY 35 HAD A STRONG CROSSWIND OF 28 KNOTS. THE PILOT BAWKED THE LANDING DUE TO THE STRONG WINDS AND UNCONTROLLABILITY OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT THEN REQUESTED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 27. THE PILOT STATED THAT APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS AFTER LANDING THE AIRCRAFT COLLAPSED TO ITS RIGHT SIDE VEERING OFF TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY.

WEATHER CONDITIONS AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, WERE PARTLY SUNNY, 55 DEGREES, WINDS WERE 20 KNOTS OUT OF THE WEST, GUSTING TO 30 KNOTS. RUNWAY 27 WAS DRY AND CLEAR AND FREE OF ANY DEBRIS, OR OBSTRUCTIONS.

## Other reports on N3549R (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19910518016399A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910518016399A), May 18, 1991: Beech A23 (N3549R), Dothan, AL, Substantial damage. Lost power on takeoff, tried to land on taxiway but collided with a fence. Cylinder broke due hot running engine.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
