## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT APPROXIMATELY 0921 PDT (LOCAL), AN COMMMERCIAL RATED PILOT WAS ON A PERSONAL FLIGHT IN KING AIR N505SP. THE FLIGHT WAS TAXIING OUT FROM THE WEST RAMP TO RUNWAY 28 IN BERMUDA DUNES AIRPORT (UDD) FOR TAKE OFF. WHILE THE KING AIR N505SP WAS TAXIING THERE WAS ANOTHER AIRPLANE(N206DT) OCCUPIED BY A PRIVATE PILOT WITH ONE PASSENGER ON BOARD. THE CESSNA STATIONAIR N206DT?S TAIL PARTIALLY OBSTRUCTED THE TAXIWAY IN STATIONARY POSITION. KING AIR PILOT DECIDED TO SWERVE TO THE NORTH (PILOT?S LEFT) PARTIALLY INTO THE DIRT OUTSIDE OF TAXIWAY PAVEMENT AREA TO AVOID IMPACTING THE STATIONAIR. BUT THE RIGHT WINGLET OF THE KING AIR STRUCK THE TAIL OF THE STATIONAIR AND JOLTED THE PLANE, PROMPTING THE STAIONAIR PILOT TO CALL OUT TO THE KING AIR PILOT. THE KING AIR PILOT, BELIEVED THAT HE DID NOT IMPACT THE STATIONAIR. THE STATIONAIR PILOT EXITED THE PLANE AND VISUALLY CONFIRMED THE POSSIBLE SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE ON HIS AIRPLANE AND CALLED THE KING AIR PILOT. THE KING AIR PILOT CONTINUED TAKE OFF AND DEPARTED TO CARLSBAD AIRPORT (CRQ). THE KING AIR PILOT DISCOVERED THE DAMAGE ON THE KING AIR AFTER HE ARRIVED TO THE DESTINATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR21LA253](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR21LA253), May 10, 2021: Cessna T206H (N206DT), Palm Springs, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The Kingair pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from another airplane while taxiing, which resulted in a ground collision.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
