## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT N51LL, A GULFSTREAM AMERICAN AA-5B, DEPARTED TWIN OAKS (7S3) RUNWAY 02 AT APPROXIMATELY 2145Z. IT ROLLED ONTO THE RUNWAY, ZERO FLAPS, AND THE PILOT STATED THAT HE ACCELERATED TO 55 KNOTS. RUNWAY 02 AT 7S3 IS AN UPHILL RUNWAY. THE PILOT ROTATED THE AIRCRAFT STATING THAT HE MAY HAVE GOTTEN ONE FOOT OFF OF THE GROUND BUT DID NOT GAIN AIRSPEED AND THAT THE STALL HORN CAME ON, HE THEN ABORTED THE TAKEOFF WITH HEAVY BRAKING. THE PILOT SAID THAT HE BELIEVED THERE WAS 800-1200 FEET OF RUNWAY REMAINING. N51LL WENT STRAIGHT OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY, DOWN AN EMBANKMENT, ACROSS HIGHWAY 219, AND INTO THE TREES AND BRUSH ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED.

.

THE INITIAL OBSERVATIONS SHOWED DAMAGE TO THE LEADING EDGE OF BOTH WINGS, THE MAIN LANDING GEAR STRUTS WERE SPLAYED OUT, AND THE TIPS OF BOTH PROPELLERS WERE BENT FORWARD. DUE TO THE AIRCRAFT COMING TO A STOP IN THE TREES AT THE EDGE OF THE EMBANKMENT AT THE NORTH SIDE OF RIVER ROAD, WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS RECOVERED IT APPEARS THAT THE AILERONS HAD MOVED AND WERE NOW STUCK IN A DIFFERENT POSITION THAN THE INITIAL POST-ACCIDENT PICTURES SHOWED. THE ELEVATOR DID MOVE FREELY.

.

BOTH WING LEADING EDGES ARE DAMAGED BACK TO THE SPAR. THE UPPER AND LOWER SKINS OF THE WINGS ARE BUCKLED IN A MANNER THAT WOULD SUGGEST THE WINGS HAVE BEEN PUSHED BACK. THE ENGINE CONTROLS WERE CHECKED AND SHOWED FULL MOVEMENT. THERE WAS A CRACK NOTICED ON THE AIR BOX DOUBLER WHERE THE THROTTLE CABLE IS MOUNTED. THE EXHAUST WAS CHECKED FOR OBSTRUCTIONS BY AN A&P MECHANIC, NONE WERE NOTED. THE AIR FILTER AND AIRBOX FOR THE ENGINE INLET WAS ALSO CHECKED WITH NO OBSTRUCTIONS NOTED. THE PROPELLER IS BENT FORWARD ON BOTH TIPS WITH SOME IMPACT DAMAGE.

.

FROM THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY THERE IS A LIGHT THAT WAS BROKEN BY N51LL ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. NO SKID MARKS WERE VISIBLE AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY ON 5/25/2021. BETWEEN THE END OF THE RUNWAY APRON PAVEMENT AND THE EMBANKMENT THAT GOES DOWN TO RIVER ROAD THERE WERE 3 DIVOTS IN THE GRAVEL, ONE ON THE LH SIDE AND TWO ON THE RH SIDE, APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET SEPARATE THE LH AND RH MARKS. THERE WERE NO MARKS FROM THE AIRCRAFT OBSERVED GOING DOWN THE EMBANKMENT. THE FIRST SIGNS OF CONTACT ARE ON THE WEST BOUND LANE OF RIVER ROAD. THERE ARE BOTH SKID MARKS AND GOUGES IN THE PAVEMENT ON THE WEST BOUND LANE NEAR WHERE THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP ON THE NORTH SIDE OF RIVER ROAD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR21LA195](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR21LA195), May 12, 2021: Gulfstream American AA-5B (N51LL), Hillsboro, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s delayed remediation following an aborted takeoff run, which resulted in a runway overrun and collision with trees.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
