## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ON FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 35 AT JKA, A STUDENT WAS FLYING AND HAD DIFFICULTY IN GETTING THE AIRPLANE LINED UP WITH THE CENTERLINE AND ALLOWED THE AIRSPEED TO DECAY WHILE STILL 10 FEET OR MORE ABOVE THE RUNWAY. THE INSTRUCTOR TOOK THE CONTROLS AND BEGAN TO EXECUTE A GO AROUND. THE AIRPLANE ENTERED A STALL AND LANDED HARD, DEPARTING THE RUNWAY AND COMING TO REST IN THE GRASS TO THE LEFT OF THE RUNWAY. THE NOSE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO PERSONS ON BOARD.

## Other aircraft in the event

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21LA216](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21LA216), May 13, 2021: Cessna 172 (N5170K), Gulf Shores, AL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor’s delayed remedial action, which resulted in a loss of control during an attempted go-around.

## Other reports on N5170K (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19830130001789A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830130001789A), Jan 30, 1983: Cessna 172N (N5170K), Lake Wohlford, CA, Substantial damage. Pilot aborted takeoff. Aircraft ran off end of runway and flipped inverted. Runway length was 1500 feet.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
