## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 18, 2021, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS THE PILOT IN COMMAND OF N12ZG, WHILE PRACTICING CROSSWIND LANDINGS WITH HER CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR (CFI) ON RUNWAY 23 AT WAUKEGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT, WAUKEGAN, ILLINOIS (KUGN). DURING A LANDING ATTEMPT A GO-AROUND WAS INITIALED. THE AIRCRAFT BANKED TO THE RIGHT RESULTING IN THE RIGHT WING CONTACTING THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO SPIN CLOCKWISE AND DEPARTED THE RUNWAY STOPPING IN THE GRASS, RESTING ON THE MAIN LANDING GEAR AND THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT. BOTH THE PILOT AND THE CFI EXITED THE AIRCRAFT UNHARMED. NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRPORT PROPERTY AND STRUCTURES WERE NOTED.

MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE ENGINE COWL WAS REMOVED, NOSE LANDING GEAR NOT ATTACHED, LEFT MAIN GEAR COWLING REMOVED, ALL THREE PROP BLADES DAMAGED, RIGHT WING MINOR PAINT SCRAPPING AND A 5 INCH PUNCTURE TO THE LEADING EDGE OF THE RIGHT WING NEAR FUSELAGE ATTACHMENT POINT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
