## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

STUDENT PILOT^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS PRACTICING LOCAL AREA PATTERN WORK AND TOUCH-GO LANDINGS.

ON APPROACH, AND ABOUT 15-30 FEET AGL, THE PILOT LOST ELEVATOR CONTROL (DEAD STICK) OVER RUNWAY. PILOT CONTROLLED THROTTLE AND AIRSPEED TO LAND.

PILOT LANDED HARD AND NOTICED AIRCRAFT LEANING TO THE RIGHT WHEN TAXIING OFF THE RUNWAY.

AIRCRAFT WAS TOWED BY LOCAL SERVICES TO THE^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^HANGAR WHERE FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED A BENT NLG CROSS -BRACE AND SUPPORT GUSSETS.

THE ELEVATOR SYSTEM INSPECTION, IDENTIFIED AN ELEVATOR CONTROL TUBE ATTACH-POINT DISCONNECTED, WITH THE THRU BOLT AND CASTELLATED NUT HARDWARE LOCATED IN THE AIRCRAFT'S BELLY JUST BELOW . A REQUIRED COTTER PIN WAS NOT FOUND.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
