## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

A LOW TIME PILOT, WITH A RECENT TAILWHEEL ENDORSEMENT ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON A SHORT GRAVEL RUNWAY ONLY APPROXIMATELY 1,000 FEET IN LENGTH. HE TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY HALFWAY DOWN THE RUNWAY, AND THEN APPLIED HEAVY BRAKING, WHICH CAUSED THE FRONT TIRES TO DIG INTO THE SOFT GROUND, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO NOSE OVER ONTO ITS BACK. NO INJURIES TO THE SOLE OCCUPANT (SOLO PILOT). AIRCRAFT SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC21LA042](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC21LA042), May 27, 2021: Bellanca 7GCBC (N659HC), Birchwood, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's use of excessive braking during the landing roll, which resulted in a nose-over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
