## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRMAN WAS APPROACHING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 26 (FIELD ELEV. 6752 MSL) AND THE AIRCRAFT BALLOONED ABOUT 15 OR SO FEET INTO THE AIR. THE AIRMAN STATED THAT AS SPEED DECAYED A LOSS OF LIFT OCCURRED AND THAT THE A RAPID DESCENT ENSUED. AS POWER WAS APPLIED FOR A GO AROUND, THE ENGINE WAS NOT DEVELOPING ENOUGH THRUST TO RECOVER (AIR TEMP 80 DEG.) AS THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE RUNWAY WITH CONSIDERABLE FORCE. THE NOSEWHEEL WAS SHOVED INTO THE COWLING AND THE PROPELLER WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED UNDER POWER. THE LEFT MAIN GEAR LEG WAS DEFORMED. THE NTSB INVESTIGATOR WOULD NOT REPLY TO MY INQUIRY FOR CLASSIFICATION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
