## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 10, 2021, AT 1300 MST, A CESSNA R172G, N7752L, REGISTERED TO UNITED STATES AIR FORCE, TIPPED ONTO TWO WHEELS IN A GUST OF WIND AND RAN OFF THE RUNWAY ON LANDING AT GRANTS-MILAN MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, GRANTS, NEW MEXICO, WHILE ON A TRAINING FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME, AND A VFR FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE, AND THE STUDENT PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, NEW MEXICO, ON JUNE 1, 2021, AT 1114 MST.

FAA INVESTIGATORS INTERVIEWED THE STUDENT PILOT, HIS INSTRUCTOR, AND ANOTHER PILOT WHO WAS LANDING AROUND THE SAME TIME. BASED ON THESE INTERVIEWS AND WEATHER DATA THE WINDS WERE CALM BUT EXPECTED TO INCREASE IN THE AFTERNOON. THE WIND SOCK INDICATED THERE WAS MINIMAL WIND. WHILE LANDING THE STUDENT PILOT EXPERIENCED A SIGNIFICANT CROSSWIND THAT CAUSED THE LEFT WING TO PICK UP AND THE RIGHT WING TIP AND PROPELLER CONTACTED THE RUNWAY. HE RAN OFF THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND STOPPED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE WING TIP AND PROPELLER WERE DAMAGED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
