## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 06/16/2021 N2614Q, A CESSNA 182K AT KDEC(DECATUR AIRPORT) WAS PARKED BETWEEN THE T-HANGARS AND DURING START UP ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE. PILOT HAD NOTICED SMOKE IN THE ENGINE, AND PILOT CHECKED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND SEEN FIRE, SO PILOT ATTEMPTED TO MOTOR THE ENGINE TO BLOW THE FIRE OUT. DUE TO LOW BATTERY PILOT WAS UNABLE TO BLOW THE FIRE OUT. PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT AND EMERGENCY CREW ARRIVED AND WAS ABLE TO PUT FIRE OUT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
