## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 18, 2021, AT APPROXIMATELY 2027 EASTERN STANDARD TIME, A CESSNA 310 AIRCRAFT, N310LC, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING LANDING AT THE

PORTLAND MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (KPLD) IN PORTLAND, INDIANA. THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AND PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED. THE AIRCRAFT IS REGISTERED TO B&F AVIATION, INC., AND WAS OPERATING UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 135. INSTRUMENT FLIGHT RULES (IFR) CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND A FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED.

THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AT 1817 HOURS CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME AND WAS ENROUTE TO CINCINNATI MUNICIPAL AIRPORT/LUNKEN FIELD (KLUK) IN CINCINNATI, OHIO. A THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPED AND WAS MOVING EAST ALONG THE ROUTE. THE PILOT REQUESTED A DIVERSION TO KPLD DUE TO WEATHER. JUST BEFORE TOUCHDOWN, A DEER RAN FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND STRUCK THE AIRCRAFT, SEVERING THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRCRAFT YAWED TO THE LEFT AND THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR TOUCHED THE RUNWAY. WHEN THE LEFT SIDE SETTLED, THE AIRCRAFT PULLED TO THE LEFT AND OFF OF THE RUNWAY WHERE IT CAME TO REST. UPON ENGINE SHUTDOWN, THE OCCUPANTS EGRESSED THOUGH THE EMERGENCY EXIT WINDOW.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN21LA279](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN21LA279), Jun 19, 2021: Cessna 310R (N310LC), Portland, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The airplane’s collision with a deer on the runway during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
