## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT OVERFLEW THE AIRPORT TO CHECK THE WIND SOCK AND ENTERED A RIGHT DOWNWIND FOR RUNWAY 10. PILOT WAS HIGH ON THE APPROACH AND SLIPPED THE AIRCRAFT TO LOSE THE ALTITUDE. THE PILOT SET UP FOR A WHEEL LANDING AND HAD THE RIGHT WING LOW FOR THE CROSSWIND. AS THE RIGHT MAIN TOUCHED DOWN THE AIRPLANE VEERED SHARPLY TO THE LEFT. PILOT APPLIED FULL POWER FOR A GO AROUND BUT DID NOT REGAIN FLYING SPEED IN TIME TO AVOID THE TREES AND BUSHES ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT HIT AND THEN CAME TO A STOP IN THE TREES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21LA265](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21LA265), Jun 23, 2021: Aeronca 11CC (N4134E), Jefferson, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control upon landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
