## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

2021-06-25 N996KF MINOR DAMAGE TO LEFT WING LEADING EDGE ON OUTER SECTION AND FRONT SPAR AND RIB

SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF FROM KFCM, CLIMBING THROUGH 400 FEET AND INITIATING THE INITIAL TURN, TWO BIRDS WERE SEEN DIVING DOWN TO THE LEFT. LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW AT THE LEFT WING THERE WAS VISIBLE DAMAGE. THE PIC CALLED TOWER FOR AN IMMEDIATE RETURN. NORMAL LANDING TOOK PLACE. AIRCRAFT WAS SHUTDOWN AND HANDED OVER TO MAINTENANCE. COORDINATION BETWEEN FAA AW AND ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ MAINTENANCE TOOK PLACE AND NTSB WAS ADVISED. AIRCRAFT WAS DEEMED NOT AIRWORTHY UNTIL REPAIR WORK COMPLETED.

BIRDSTRIKE TOOK PLACE, DAMAGE WAS CONSISTENT WITH AN INCIDENT AND WILL BE RUN AS SUCH. MAINTENANCE HAS THE AIRCRAFT FOR ACTION. NO FURTHER FAA ACTION REQUIRED FOR THE INVESTIGATION. INCIDENT WILL BE CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
