## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF, THE PILOT STATED HE EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE POWER INTERRUPTION. A CHECK OF THE FUEL SELECTOR REVEALED IT WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. THE PILOT IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE FUEL SELECTOR AND FUEL PUMP TO THE ON POSITION; HOWEVER, WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND CAUSING THE NOSE GEAR TO COLLAPSES AND THE AIRCRAFT TO NOSE OVER ON TO ITS BACK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR21LA248](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR21LA248), Jun 26, 2021: Dewsnup Dave Zenair CH 701 SP (N41XY), Chester, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to properly position of the fuel selector valve, which resulted in a loss of engine power during initial climb due to fuel starvation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
