## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT REPORTED HE HAD DONE A RECTANGULAR PATTERN TO DECIDE WHERE THE WIND WAS COMING FROM. IN THE PAST HE HAS LANDED MANY TIMES ON THE EAST/WEST RUNWAYS. DUE TO A 10-KNOT SOUTHERLY WIND, HE CHOSE THE SOUTH RUNWAY WHICH HE HASN?T LANDED ON BEFORE. THE PILOT STATED THE SOUTH RUNWAY IS SIGNIFICANTLY SHORTER THAN THE E/W RUNWAYS IN WHICH HE WAS USED TO WHEN LANDING AT THIS PARTICULAR AIRSTRIP. HE STATED THE GRASS STRIP WAS WET AND THAT HE SLID OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED AND NO INJURIES REPORTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC21LA063](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC21LA063), Jul 11, 2021: Beech F35 (N891JH), Yakutat, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to ensure adequate runway distance for landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
