## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON LANDING, PILOT EXPERIENCED RIGHT DRIFT DUE TO UN ANTICIPATED/FORECASTED WIND AND WAS UNABLE TO RETAIN CONTROL OF AIRCRAFT AND MAINTAIN RUNWAY ALIGNMENT. INITIATED A HARD LEFT-RUDDER INPUT WHICH CAUSE THE LEFT LANDING GEAR STRUT TO COLLAPSE AND SUBSEQUENT GROUND CONTACT WITH LEFT WING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR21LA289](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR21LA289), Jul 25, 2021: Stinson 108-1 (N8844K), Bozeman, MT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing which resulted in a ground loop.

## Other reports on N8844K (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
