## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT LANDED ON RUNWAY 6 AT OCRACOKE ISLAND AIRPORT, W95. THE PILOT WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED BEFORE THE END UP THE RUNWAY AND ENDED UP GOING INTO THE GRASS/SAND WHERE IT APPEARS THAT THE NOSE WHEEL OF THE AIRCRAFT DUG INTO THE SAND/GROUND CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21LA299](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21LA299), Jul 25, 2021: Vans RV6 (N464DM), Ocracoke, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to perform a go-around during the unstabilized approach, which resulted in the airplane landing too far down the runway, and a subsequent runway excursion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
