## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE GLIDER DEPARTED NEPHI UTAH (U14) ON A LOCAL FLIGHT. THE PILOT REPORTED GOOD LIFT, AND PROCEEDED SOUTH. AFTER REACHING YUBA RESERVOIR STATE PARK THE GLIDER TURNED NORTH. AS THE GLIDER PROCEEDED NORTH ACROSS THE VALLEY IT BEGIN TO LOSE LIFT. THE PILOT STATED HE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH LIFT TO RETURN TO U14, SO HE ELECTED TO LAND ON A BEACH AT YUBA RESERVOIR. ON LANDING ROLL OUT THE GLIDER HIT A BARBER WIRE FENCE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR21LA290](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR21LA290), Jul 25, 2021: Burkhart Grob G 103 Twin II (N4446Y), Levan, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The glider’s encounter with atmospheric conditions where the lift was not sufficient to maintain flight which resulted in an off-airport landing and a collision with a fence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
