## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 07/31/2021 AT APPROXIMATELY 1021 LOCAL (CST) DURING A CFR PART 137 AERIAL AGRICULTURAL SPRAYING FLIGHT OVER A CORN FIELD, A ROBINSON R-44 II HELICOPTER N825RG HIT 2 POWER LINES AND CRASHED IN A FIELD 2 MILES NORTHWEST OF RANDOLPH, WI. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN THE CORN FIELD ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CABIN AFTER GOING THROUGH APPROXIMATELY 80 FEET OF CORN STALKS. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED DUE TO THE IMPACT IN THE FIELD. THE PILOT EXITED THE ROTORCRAFT ON HIS OWN AND WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER HIMSELF AWAY FROM THE HELICOPTER. HE DID SUFFER SERIOUS INJURIES AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN21LA349](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN21LA349), Jul 31, 2021: Robinson Helicopter R44 II (N285RG), Randolph, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from power lines during a low-level aerial application flight.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
