## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DEPARTED FROM KOSH ON NIGHT VFR TO KTIP WITH CONTROL CLEARANCE WITH FLIGHT FOLLOWING, APPROXIMATELY ABOUT 20NM I CONTACTED AND STABLISHED COMMUNICATION WITH WISCONSIN APPROACH. AT THE SAME TIME AT ABOUT 5500 FEET I EXPERIENCED WITH UNLATCHED CANOPY AND IT FLIPPED FULLY OPENED. I IMMEDIATELY PULL THE THROTTLE BACK TO REDUCE THE AIRSPEED AND DIVERTED THE FLIGHT BACK TO KOSH. IN ROUTE I ANNOUNCED TO WISCONSIN APPROACH THAT WE HAVE OPEN CANOPY AND RETURNING BACK TO KOSH AND LATER IN FLIGHT SQUAWKED 7700. I FOUND THE AIRPORT FLEW OVER MIDFIELD SAW GUN SIGNAL MADE A STANDARD TRAFFIC PATTERN AND EXECUTED A NORMAL LANDING. I MET THE FIRE TRUCK AND TALKED WITH TOWER AND HAD FIRE TRUCK TO ESCORT ME TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
