## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 4, 2021, AT APPROXIMATELY 1435 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME, A BELL 206B AIRCRAFT, N59552, LANDED IN A CORN FIELD APPROXIMATELY 4.6 MILES NORTHEAST OF CORYDON, INDIANA. THE COMMERCIAL PILOT SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES AND THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS REGISTERED TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AND OPERATED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 137 AS AN AERIAL APPLICATION FLIGHT. DAYLIGHT VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED FOR THE FLIGHT, WITH NO FLIGHT PLAN FILED.

THE PILOT STATED THAT HE FLEW OVER THE FIELD AND DID NOT SEE THE POWER LINES STRETCHED ACROSS IT. ON THE FIRST APPLICATION PASS, PERPENDICULAR TO THE POWER LINES, THE HELICOPTER STRUCK THE LINES AND BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE, CRASHING INTO THE CORN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN21LA356](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN21LA356), Aug 4, 2021: Bell 206 (N59552), Corydon, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to see and avoid power lines.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
