## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT/AIRCRAFT DEPARTED K59 AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF AERIAL

APPLICATION OF CHEMICALS TO A FIELD WHEN THE FUEL LOW LIGHT ILLUMINATED. 10 MINUTES LATER THE ENGINE STARTED LOSING POWER. THE PILOT COMPLETED AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A BEAN FIELD WEST OF HOYT, KS CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE EMPANAGE FWD OF THE AIRCRAFT ELEVATOR AND RUDDER, DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING, AND DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER DUE TO STRIKING THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN21LA362](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN21LA362), Aug 6, 2021: Air Tractor AT-502B (N502CP), Topeka, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s decision to continue low-level aerial application flight maneuvers after the low fuel warning light illuminated, which resulted in a partial loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
