## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE STUDENT PILOT WAS ON A PRACTICE STEEP APPROACH TO A PINNACLE MANEUVER WHEN THE AIRCRAFT HAD A LOW ROTOR SPEED INDICATION. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR TOOK THE COLLECTIVE CONTROL AND THE STUDENT RETAINED THE CYCLIC CONTROL. THE AIRCRAFT HIT HARD ON THE LEFT LANDING SKID CAUSING A ROLLOVER TO THE LEFT. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SEVERE DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR21LA320](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR21LA320), Aug 14, 2021: Robinson Helicopter R22 Beta (N226WM), West Jordan, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot receiving instruction’s improper application of forward cyclic in a low rotor rpm condition and the instructor’s delayed remediation, which resulted in an impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
