## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT DEPARTED RWY 08 AT SOUTH JERSEY REGIONAL AIRPORT (KVAY). WHILE EN-ROUTE TO HAMMONTON MUNICIPAL (N81) THE AIRMEN ELECTED TO RETURN TO KVAY DUE TO THE CLOUD CEILINGS STARTING TO LOWER. THE AIRMEN ENTERED THE TRAFFIC PATTERN HIGH AND FAST. UPON LANDING THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED. ON THE SECOND TOUCHDOWN THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF TO THE LEFT AND EXITED THE PAVED SURFACE. THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED AND CAME TO REST IN THE GRASSY AREA TO THE LEFT OF RUNWAY 08. UPON INSPECTION THE NOSE WHEEL LANDING GEAR WAS DAMAGED AND BENT AND THE VERTICAL STABILIZER WAS STRUCTURALLY DAMAGED AND APPROXIMATELY 75% DETACHED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21LA337](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21LA337), Aug 21, 2021: Vans RV7 (N838WT), Mount Holly, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper recovery from a bounced landing, resulting in a touchdown on the nose gear first, resulting in damage to the nose gear and a runway excursion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
