## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 24, 2021 AT 18:58 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME (EDT), A 2020 CIRRUS DESIGN CORP. SF50 AIRPLANE, N1GG, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OPERATED BY A PRIVATE PILOT FOR A BUSINESS FLIGHT WAS DESTROYED WHEN IT WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AT CAPITAL REGION INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LAN) IN LANSING, MICHIGAN.

THE PILOT, THREE PASSENGERS AND A DOG WERE NOT INJURED. THE AIRPLANE WAS OPERATED AS A TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 91 BUSINESS FLIGHT. VISUAL METEROLOGICAL CONDITIONS, GUSTY WINDS WITH THUNDERSTORMS IN THE VICINITY, PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

18:55 EDT LANSING TOWER ADVISES N1GG THAT THERE ARE THUNDERSTORMS MOVING IN TOWARD THE AIRPORT FROM THE WEST AND THAT RUNWAY 10R WAS AVAILABLE FOR DEPARTURE. N1GG ACCEPTS AND TAXIES TO RUNWAY 10R. 18:56 EDT LANSING TOWER INFORMES N1GG THAT AUTOMATED TERMINAL INFORMATION SYSTEM (ATIS) INFORMATION OSCAR IS NOW CURRENT. 1GG ACKNOWLEDGES THAT HE WILL PICK UP OSCAR. AT 18:56 EDT LANSING TOWER INSTRUCTS N1GG TO FLY RUNWAY HEADING AND CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF. N1GG ACKNOWLEDGES THE INSTRUCTIONS. AT 18:57 EDT LANSING TOWER ISSUES A WIND SHEAR ALERT TO N1GG FOR PLUS TWENTY KNOTS, ONE MILE FINAL RUNWAY 28L. N1GG ACKNOWLEDGES THE ALERT. 4000 FT INTO THE TAKEOFF ROLL, N1GG ABORTS THE TAKEOFF AND VEERS OFF LEFT SIDE OF THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 10R. LANSING TOWER ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT N1GG AND ASKS IF THEY REQUIRE ASSISTANCE. THEY RECEIVED NO REPLY.

THE PILOT STATED THAT AT THE 2000 FT MARKER, HE FELT HE HAD NO RESPONSE FROM THE LEFT RUDDER OR BRAKE. THE PILOT THEN ABORTED TAKEOFF AT APPROXIMATLY 4000FT. HE STATED THAT HE PULLED THE THROTTLE BACK AND APPLIED THE BRAKES LIGHTLY BECAUSE HE FELT THAT HE ONLY HAD BRAKES ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHICH VEERED THE AIRCRAFT OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. ULTIMATELY THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED EAST OF THE RUNWAY FOR 1000FT WHERE IT CAME TO A STOP AFTER IT IMPACTED THE PERIMETER FENCE AND CAUGHT FIRE. THE PILOT, THREE PASSENGERS AND THEIR DOG ESCAPED THE AIRCRAFT SAFELY.
