## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED -TURNED TWO MILE FINAL TO RUNWAY 06 AT KVJI. WINDS WERE CALM. MAINTAINED ABOUT 67 MPH AIRSPEED TO THE GROUND. FLARED,

LANDED SOFTLY AT ABOUT SIXTY MPH. WHEN THE NOSE WHEEL TOUCHED THE GROUND THE AIRCRAFT TURNED ABOUT THIRTY DEGREES TO THE LEFT . . I PRESSED THE RIGHT RUDDER PEDAL BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. THE AIRCRAFT LEFT THE RUNWAY JUST MISSING A RUNWAY LIGHT. I APPLIED

THE BRAKES, THE GRASS WAS WET AND SLIPPERY. THE BRAKES HAD LITTLE EFFECT. I SAW THE EMBANKMENT AHEAD, PULLED THE YOKE ALL OFTHE WAY BACK HOPING I COULD LIFT THE NOSE, BUT THE SPEED WAS TO LOW. THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE EMBANKMENT, WAS PUSHED UP ON ITS NOSE LANDING IN A VERTICAL POSITION. IT THEN ROLLED OVER ON ITS BACK

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21LA358](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21LA358), Sep 13, 2021: Alon A2 (N5644F), Abingdon, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of a nosewheel steering actuator arm, which resulted in a loss of control during the landing rollout.

## Other reports on N5644F (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
