## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REPORTED: WE WERE ON A CFR PART 91 REPOSITION FLIGHT FROM KYNG TO KJZI WITH NO PASSENGERS. WHILE IN A

DECENT THROUGH FL210 TO MAKE A CROSSING RESTRICTION FOR 11,000 FEET AT TRTLS ON THE OSPRI 7

STAR FOR KJZI, WE HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE AIRCRAFT YAWED TO THE RIGHT. THE AUTOPILOT WAS

DISENGAGED AND A NOTICEABLE YAW WAS ENCOUNTERED. INITIALLY WE SUSPECTED A COMPRESSOR STALL

BUT THERE WAS NO CORRESPONDING ENGINE INDICATIONS. NO FURTHER BANGS OR ABNORMALITIES WERE

ENCOUNTERED AND THE CHOICE WAS MADE TO CONTINUE ON TO OUR ORIGINAL DESTINATION OF KJZI SINCE

WE WERE ONLY 10 MINUTES OUT. A NORMAL APPROACH AND LANDING WAS PERFORMED AT KJZI. UPON POST

FLIGHT INSPECTION BOTH THE UPPER AND LOWER COWLING OF THE LEFT (NO.1) ENGINE HAD DEPARTED

THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21LA379](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21LA379), Sep 14, 2021: Hawker Beechcraft 400A (N100FN), Charleston, SC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The in-flight separation of the left engine’s four-panel cowling for reasons that could not be determined based on the available evidence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
