## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N9639D WAS ATTEMPTING A LANDING AT N63, MEADOW BROOK AIRPORT IN WALNUT COVE, NC. THE AIRCRAFT RAN OFF THE END OF RUNWAY 16, WENT PARTIALLY THROUGH AN ELECTRIC FENCE AND FLIPPED FORWARD AND CAME TO REST UP SIDE DOWN. THE PILOT RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES AND WAS NOT TREATED BY EMERGENCY RESPONDERS. THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF A SECOND PERSON IN THE AIRPLANE BUT NONE WAS IDENTIFIED. FAA RECORDS SHOW THAT THE PILOT DID NOT HAVE A VALID FAA MEDICAL AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21LA370](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21LA370), Sep 19, 2021: Piper PA-22-150 (N9639D), Walnut Cove, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to attain the proper touchdown point which resulted in a runway overrun, collision with an airport boundary fence, and a nose over event.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
