## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC WAS CONDUCTING FAMILIARIZATION TRAINING IN THE AIRCRAFT WHICH HE RECENTLY PURCHASED. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^WAS PASSENGER AND MENTOR FOR INSURANCE REQUEST. THIS WAS THE SECOND FLIGHT OF THE AIRCRAFT OF THE DAY, AND CONSISTED OF TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS AS DID THE FIRST FLIGHT. ON THE ACCIDENT FLIGHT, THE AIRCRAFT MADE THREE PREVIOUS LANDINGS WITHOUT INCIDENT. ON THE FOURTH LANDING, AFTER TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TURNING TO THE LEFT, AND WAS UNABLE TO BE CORRECTED BEFORE GROUND LOOPING, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT, INCLUDING BREAKING ONE WING. NEITHER OCCUPANT WAS INJURED DURING THE ACCIDENT. BOTH OCCUPANTS RELATED THAT THE TOUCHDOWN WAS SMOOTH AND THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS INDICATION OF ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA003](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA003), Oct 1, 2021: Culp John S Culps Specl Sopwith (N329CC), Pottstown, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing, which resulted in a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
