## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 10/22/2021 1706 MS, N7304N, CESSNA U206G, WAS APPROX. 2100 FOOT ALTITUDE WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED SMOKING AND MADE A LOUD NOISE WHEN THE PILOT EXPERIENCED A LOSS IN POWER AND SAW THE EGT DROP. AT ABOUT 1000 AGL. THE PILOT PULLED THE PROP LEVER AFT TO INCREASE GLIDE AND MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON A ROAD OFF AIRPORT AT THE GILA RIVER INDIAN RESERVATION. AFTER LANDING IT WAS NOTICED THERE WAS A LARGE HOLE ON THE SIDE OF ENGINE BLOCK, WHICH HAD ALSO CAUSED A HOLE IN THE COWLING. THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE, TAIL, WINGS OR GEAR. IT WAS FOUND DURING THE ENGINE INSPECTION THAT THE #2 CYLINDER A ROD SEIZED AND CRACKED THROUGH THE ENGINE AND KNOCKED OFF THE LEFT MAGNETO. THE ENGINE HAD ABOUT 1800 HOURS IN ITS CYCLE. NO COUNSELING OR ISSUES FOUND WITH THE PILOT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
