## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 28TH, A BEECHCRAFT BONANZA ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^WAS FLYING FROM KATY, TEXAS (IWS) TO HAMMOND, LOUISIANA (HDC) WITH 3 SOLES ONBOARD. WHILE ON APPROACH TO HAMMOND AND APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES FROM THE AIRPORT, THE PILOT REPORTED SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT, LOW OIL PRESSURE, AND THE ENGINE WAS FAILING. THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY, NOTIFIED HAMMOND THAT THE AIRCRAFT WOULD NOT MAKE THE AIRPORT (ENGINE SEIZED), AND BEGAN TO SEARCH FOR AN EMERGENCY LANDING LOCATION. THE PILOT TURNED TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON INTERSTATE I-12 WEST. THE LANDING/ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 1600L WHEN THE AIRCRAFT MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON I-12W BETWEEN MILE MARKER 35 (PUMPKIN CENTER EXIT) AND MILE MARKER 34. DURING THE EMERGENCY LANDING THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A VEHICLE WITH 1 DRIVER AND 1 PASSENGER, WHICH SPUN THE AIRCRAFT INTO THE MEDIAN STRIKING THE RETAINING CABLES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PERSONS ONBOARD THE AIRCRAFT OR IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAA IIC WAS ON SCENE AT APPROXIMATELY 1700L AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HAMMOND AIRPORT VIA A AUTOMOTIVE TOW TRUCK.
