## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WEATHER BRIEF AT MPO PRIOR TO TAKEOFF, "MARGINAL VFR." PER PILOTS STATEMENT. PILOT TOOK OFF AND PROCEEDED TO DO TWO TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS AT AVP. CLIMBING OUT OF AVP AT APPX. 2600 FT. PILOT ENCOUNTERED UNEXPECTED PRECIPITATION. (SNOW) PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS STARTLED BECAUSE HE COULD NOT SEE OUTSIDE OF THE AIRPLANE. HE FOCUSED ON HIS ATTITUDE INDICATOR, AND MAINTAINED LEVEL WINGS, BUT DID NOT NOTICE THAT HE WAS GRADUALLY DESCENDING. HE DOES NOT REMEMBER SEEING THE GROUND PRIOR TO THE CRASH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA060](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA060), Nov 14, 2021: Cessna 150 (N6714S), Wilkes-Barre, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s decision to commence the flight in marginal visual flight rules conditions at night, and his failure to maintain a safe altitude once instrument conditions were encountered.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
