## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 11/20/2021 THE INSTRUCTOR WAS PROVIDING FLIGHT INSTRUCTION TO STUDENT/OWNER IN HELICOPTER N210JB (K-COPTER 47 G-2).

AT APPROXIMATELY 1126 LOCAL TIME, WHILE AWAITING FOR CLEARANCE TO CROSS THE RUNWAY,THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A NOSE PITCH UP, THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE GROUND AND THE TAIL ROTOR GEARBOX BROKE FREE FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE NOSE PITCHED DOWN, THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED A RIGHT YAW AND A LEFT ROLLING MOTION. THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES CONTACTED THE GROUND AND THE HELICOPTER CAME TO REST ON ITS LEFT SIDE.

BOTH OCCUPANTS SURVIVED THE ACCIDENT. THE STUDENT WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE AIRCRAFT ON HIS OWN. THE INSTRUCTOR REMAINED IN THE AIRCRAFT UNTIL EMERGENCY CREW ARRIVED AND WAS EXTRACTED BY THE EMERGENCY CREW. BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL FOR EVALUATION. THE INSTRUCTOR REMAINED IN THE HOSPITAL FOR GREATER THAN 48 HOURS FOR OBSERVATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA069](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA069), Nov 20, 2021: K Copters 47G-2 (N210JB), Lancaster, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor’s failure to ensure a positive transfer of aircraft control, which resulted in a loss of control and collision with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
